KEVIN M. FOGEL

Kevin M. Fogel is President of KMF Property Group, Inc., which currently owns and manages a portfolio of investment-grade commercial properties located in Nassau and Suffolk Counties in Long Island, New York. These assets include office buildings, strip retail, and shopping centers with a diverse tenant mix ranging from financial service companies and law firms to fast food establishments; from local merchant shops to nationally-recognized chain stores. He is responsible for all acquisitions, dispositions, property management functions, leasing transactions, capital improvements, contract negotiations, and site evaluation for potential development projects. Kevin also oversees the day-to-day operations of the business, serves as a liaison to various business, governmental, and professional organizations, conducts market research and analysis, and provides long-term strategic planning for the company. In addition, prior to repositioning its investments into the Long Island market, the company owned and managed ten industrial buildings in Long Island City, Queens. To date, Kevin has over 20 years of experience working in various aspects of the real estate industry.

From 1999 to 2008, Kevin served as a Director of the Long Island City Business Development Corporation (LICBDC), which manages the area’s 900-acre in-place industrial park (the largest in New York City), and represents the interests of more than 2,400 local businesses. During this same time he served as a member of the LICBDC Planning and Area Development Committee. In 2001, Kevin testified before the New York City Council in favor of the proposed rezoning of a 37-block area in Long Island City, which was subsequently approved. From 2006 to 2008, he was a Director (as well as a founding member) of the Long Island City Business Improvement District and, as a member of its Program and Services Committee, was actively involved in the selection of companies to provide various services (i.e.: security, sanitation, and marketing) within the BID. As a member of the BID’s Marketing and Business Promotion Committee, he was involved in the design and launch of the organization’s website, as well as its streetlight advertising banner campaign. In addition, in 2004 Kevin was appointed by the New York City mayor’s office to serve as a public member of the Transportation Committee of Queens Community Board No. 2, a position he held until 2008, when all of the Long Island City properties were sold to capitalize on favorable market conditions.

Kevin has worked as a New York State Licensed Real Estate Salesperson, has passed the New York State Licensed Real Estate Broker’s Course, and has published more than 30 articles on various real estate topics including the use of clever commercial lease clauses, and effective property management techniques. In addition, Kevin is currently earning his designation as a Certified Property Manager (CPM) from the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), and is enrolled in the Real Estate Development Certificate Program at the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Kevin is an active member of the Urban Land Institute where he previously served on the New York District Council’s Program Committee, the Young Leaders Group Steering Committee, and the Long Island Committee. In addition, he is a member of the Greater New York Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management. Kevin also actively participates in several real estate and business networking groups such as the Young Real Estate Professionals (New York), the International Council of Shopping Centers (Next Generation), and the Businessmen’s Round Table.

In 2003, Kevin earned a Master of Science Degree in Real Estate Investment and Development from The Real Estate Institute at New York University. During his two and a half years at NYU, Kevin was an extremely active member of the Real Estate Student Association, where he served as its President, Executive Vice President, Vice President, Advisor to the Executive Board, and as Chairperson of the By-Laws Committee. Through those positions, he led an Executive Board comprised of 20 officers and represented the interests of more than 400 students enrolled in the real estate and construction management degree programs. Kevin received a Dean’s Scholarship, an Academic Excellence Fellowship, a Leadership Award from the President of New York University, and a Service Award from Lambda Alpha International (a Land Economics Honor Society).

In 1998, Kevin received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (cum laude) from the Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University. He was on the Dean’s List every semester, graduated in the top 10% of his class, was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society, and served as Vice President of the Golden Key National Honor Society. In addition, Kevin received an Academic Honors Scholarship, served on the Business Management Department Honor Council every semester, was awarded the Bovenaan Co-curricular Service Award, and is listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. In 1996, Kevin graduated from Nassau Community College (Magna Cum Laude) in the top ½ % of his class, having been on the Dean’s List every semester. He was awarded the Joseph F. Carlino, Jr. Academic Excellence and Service Scholarship, was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Scholastic Honor Society, and completed 15 credits in Honors Courses with a GPA of 4.00.

Prior to joining the real estate industry, Kevin enjoyed an outstanding career as a highly decorated Paramedic. From 1983 to 1990, he worked for the New York City Emergency Medical Service (NYC-EMS); the largest, busiest, and most advanced emergency ambulance service in the world. During that time, he served as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and as a Paramedic on specialized Tactical Patrol Units, and treated more than 10,000 patients (many of whom had suffered critical, life-threatening injuries). Kevin also served as an Instructor at the NYC-EMS Training Academy where he trained more than 600 EMTs, Paramedics, New York City Police Officers and Firefighters, United States Park Rangers, hospital nurses, and members of the public. Kevin graduated from the prestigious High Flyer Leadership Training Program designed “to identify future leaders of the New York City Emergency Medical Service”, and he served as a founding member of the Ceremonial Honor Guard, which represented the NYC-EMS at all official ceremonies and parades. During his career, Kevin held 6 instructor ratings, received 12 medals and 20 letters of commendation, and became one of the highest decorated members of the Service.

Kevin has also been recognized for his lifesaving efforts and community service performed outside the scope of his employment with the NYC-EMS. He received a New York City Transit Police Department Certificate of Heroism, the Police and Fire Legion Good Samaritan Award, a Citation from Brooklyn Borough President Howard Golden, the American Red Cross Certificate of Merit (its highest lifesaving award), and a Letter of Commendation for Bravery for saving a New York City Police Officer who was being assaulted by a violent felon.

Throughout his life, Kevin has been active in his community and has served as a leader in various civic organizations. For three years, he served as an Emergency Medical Technician for the Canarsie Volunteer Ambulance Corp. in Brooklyn, New York where he quickly rose through the ranks to become a Crew Chief (in charge of all patient care during his tour of duty). As an officer in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, he performed hundreds of hours of volunteer search & rescue operations in local waters, inspected vessels for mandatory compliance with Federal safety regulations, and taught numerous boating and first aid courses. Since 1990, Kevin has been an active member of Temple Avodah in Oceanside, New York; has served as a Trustee, and as a member of numerous committees. He currently serves on the Marketing Committee as well as being the Training Coordinator for the organization’s medical emergency response team, while managing its cardiac defibrillator program. Since 2006, Kevin has served as an active member of the Patriot Guard Riders (comprised of more than 150,000 motorcyclists located throughout the United States), which provides an officially-authorized motorcycle escort at the funerals of fallen American soldiers as well as during ceremonies, homecomings, and parades. This group has received much public praise from the President of the United States; federal, state and local politicians; and numerous veterans’ organizations. Kevin and his wife Ellen (a senior real estate finance attorney) live in Oceanside, Long Island, with their two children.
